Hi, I just wonder how to determine a raw device (harddisk) is faulty. I can disklabel to read the device partition table and when I checked the uerf I don't see any scsi error with event 199. There is no faulty light on the harddisk. The problem is the customer insisted that their application utilty from Informix shown some error messages. The messsage is related to some internal error and fragmentation. He insisted that this is a harddisk problem (base on his knowledge). How do I confirm? Thanks, SMF

You use an independent program to read the device; dd(1) is a good choice. If it can read the partition/device, then the customer's problem is probably not a device error. |
