A user using the Alphaserver2100 with Decsafe installed on Digital UNIX 3.2D found once that one system shutdown without switching to the other system and it autostarted later on. At that time, the system manager was doing nothing special, and the user was using application developed using the SQL Tools of Oracle 7.2 enterprice server. Could some tell me why the system should go down? Thanks!

Hi Did the 2100 crash? If so, did it create vmcore, vmunix and crash-data files in /var/adm/crash? Are there any messages in the hardware error logs? Are there any messages in /var/adm/messages, or the /var/adm/syslog.dated directories? The daemon.log files should also have messages about DECsafe failover. Please examine these files to see if they provide any clues. leon |
