9885.0. "Unable to "stty -clocal" " by STP01::STPVNV::stp01::voinov (Vladimir Voinov, MCS Russia) Tue May 20 1997 09:18

The customer of mine is trying to make a stty change for -clocal
on a serial port on Alphaserver 2100 5/300. When he issues
the following command:

                stty -clocal /dev/tty01,

nothing changes ( stty -a > /dev/tty01 shows clocal without "-"),
no errors.
The server is running DUnix 3.2d-2.

Any ideas?
Vladimir

9885.2The problem is still here...STP01::STPVNV::stp01::voinovVladimir Voinov, MCS RussiaThu May 22 1997 08:0822
O.K.,
I think the situation needs to be explained.
The customer is connecting Matrix 5000 UPS with PowerChute Plus for Unix v4.2.2
to the couple of rackmount 2100 working in UNIX-cluster.
The UPS has one "Advanced" port, which should be connected to each Alpha
and successfully configured with software.
Then, AP9607 UPS Interface Expander is connected to the UPS port.
This unit has two ports, "Advanced" and "Simple", to support
both computers. The "Advanced" port works O.K. again, but, when
installing Powerchute Plus for "Simple" port, the following message appears:

/dev/tty01 appears to be a local control port
Warning: Port must be configured for modem control in order to work
with a "Simple" Signaling UPS

The question is, how to configure port for modem control,
if "stty -clocal" doesn't work?

The script in .-1 blocks the port and makes Powerchute installation impossible.
