customer uses a 8400 and 4100 as cluster members. Both machine have no
graphics card activated. Cluster management will be done remotely on an
alphastation 255 with powerstorm 3d30 (open3D 4.2 installed).

cmon works fine on 4100 with remote display to A255.
starting cmon on the 8400 machine will display the following message:

    x error of failed req: bad value (integer parameter out of range for
     operation)
    major opcode off failed req: 12 (x_configure_window)

    value in failed req 0x0 serial off failed req. 482 current ser in
    output 483

The given X-instruction (12) modifies the created window for cmon.
Cmon logo appear but will stop executing after 30 seconds.
The global resource file is ok, no local settings in .Xdefaults etc.

We have reinstalled the cluster monitor software but without results.
Both machines have the same kits installed. (incl. all patches)
Other X applications (decterm etc.) works fine.

Any hints?
