9872.0. "Unable to upgrade D.Unix 3.2d to 3.2g due to IAS" by QCAV02::SANAND () Mon May 19 1997 10:31
Hi everybody,
We have an AlphaServer 2100 cluster at one cutomser site running
Digital Unix V3.2D and DECSafe ASE V1.3 and Internet AlphaServer kit V2.0
running on top of it.
As we have installed IAS V2.0 kit and migrated the login services from NonASE
to ASE environment, /var/spool/mail directory has been moved to /data by
the Electronic Locker product of IAS kit.
Because of this reason, we are not able to upgrade the existing Unix 3.2d to
any higher version as the upgrade script checks for the existing directories
and then goes ahead for installation. As every thing is moved to /data
directory, the upgrade of Digital Unix 3.2G failes.
We have observed that 3.2G has better features than 3.2d in terms of lingering
processes. That's why customer wants to go in for 3.2G.
Please provide some hints/suggestions to overcome this issue. If you
want any further details, please let us know.
Thanks and best regards
Sachchidanand
