9845.0. "Ftp different behaviour in 4.0 !" by VAXRIO::16.179.32.123::Manoel () Thu May 15 1997 17:30

	Hi folks.

	It seems that there is a difference in ftp behaviour between OSF 3.2c
and 4.0.
	While issuing a get command in ftp from a pc Windows 95 to get a 100k
file from a 3.2c machine via satelite, it worked fine, but the same transfer
from a 4.0 machine using the same link, just stucks.
	I asked the customer to lower the mtu size for the satelite path.
	He hasn't answered me yet, if it worked or not.
	Am I right in my guess ?
	Can some one point me other solution/workaround ?
	Thanks in advance for any help.
	Regards.

Hello,

I think you have right.

Some times ago, I got a strange call : small files are correctly ftp'ed
via ISDN between Belgium - France and United Kingdom but not big files.

I asked to my customer to decrease the MTU and after all was ok.

Customer was running 4.0a.

Hope that may help you,

Have a very nice week-end,

Kind regards,

9845.2turn-off path MTU...SMURF::AJAYFri May 16 1997 16:127
    If that does not work, try the following:
    	# dbx -k /vmunix
    	(dbx) assign pmtu_enabled = 0

    by disablling Path MTU feature (new) in V4.0...
