9824.0. "ntp_TimeChanged" by DEKVC::MOONSUCHO (MOON-SU CHO @DEK) Thu May 15 1997 03:39
Hi, We have a problem about ntp(Network Time Protocol) under
Digital Unix 3.x version environment.
[H/W, S/W Environment]
- Customer name is "Korea Telecom Yong-In Satellite".
- A/S 2100 * 3 systems, DEC3000 * 2 systems
- O/S of them are Digital Unix ver 3.x
- DBMS: ORACLE
- They don't use clustering, Just Ethernet Networking
Simple Network (Ethernet)

[Working]
-Systems are using for Satellite control.
-They use NTP, one of the A/S2100(A System) is using time server.
-They had setuped followings;
On "dbsdbma" system(i.e ntp server),
#xntpd -c /etc/ntp.conf
#vi /etc/ntp.conf
+-----------------------------------------------------
| .
| .
|driftfile /etc/ntp.drift
| .
| .
|driftfile /etc/ntp.drift
|server 127.127.1.3 version 2
|fudge 127.127.1.3
|stratum 3 refid RSMS
|
On other systems(i.e ntp clients),
#xntpd -c /etc/ntp.conf
#vi /etc/ntp.conf
+-----------------------------------------------------
| .
| .
|driftfile /etc/ntp.drift
| .
| .
|driftfile /etc/ntp.drift
|server dbsdbma
|
[Symptoms]
-Problem is that system time is fast about 2~3 minutes per week, system
time is very important to them. Because the systems manage Satellite 57
more lines.
-They had changed time sever to other A/S 2100 system, but the problem
is same.
Pls Let me know any idea, Thanks
