9797.0. "CPU 100% used (telnet,ksh and PC)" by OSLLAV::SVEINN_P (Svein Nordrum) Tue May 13 1997 08:37
DIGITAL Unix v4.0a,
At two different customer sites in the last couple of days
I have seen this problem:
iostat shows a cpu which is 100% used
ps aux shows some processes which are consuming all of the cpu,
these processes are started from ksh on different pc's, and the
owner is logged out. The problem is probably caused by users who
don't exit the applications on the pc in a proper way.
Is there anything to do from UNIX which will prevent this problem ?
Will tuning of the tcp_* parameters help ?
Similar problems has been reported in note #1086 and #8529 though
without any answers...
thanks in advance
-Svein
