Hi,
I need to shut a Dec 2000 to single user mode but it won't work
anymore. I tried "shutdown now" and also tried >>> boot -fl S
The machine starts to boot into single user mode and then it looks
like the INIT process encounters the /usr/new/tcsh from somewhere and
the system kicks into run level 3.
Anyone ran into this problem before? Know how to fix it?
Thanks

Hi, The two methods you mentioned should have worked, the only other I can think of is "init s". Has anything changed recently on the machine (firmware, OS, ...) that could have caused this, or have any "customizations" been made to /etc/inittab? -Brian [Posted by WWW Notes gateway] | |||||

Never mind...the tsch was being invoked from profile of the root
account.
