I have a customer who plans to remain on v3.2g for possibly 2 more years due to some application dependencies. They want to know the following: 1. How long will Digital UNIX 3.2g be supported? (via technical support)...will they be required to purchase additional support to guarantee this support? 2. How long will Digital Unix 3.2g be supported via patches. 3. Will Digital distribute year 2000 patches for OS versions 3.2X prior to December '97? 4. What is Digital's policy on supporting layered products for older versions of the os. Specifically, this customer wants to stay on Digital Unix v3.2g with layered products for that version. does the customer need to pay extra for support of older versions of layered products? Thanks, Forough p.s. this customer has a very important project that has tremendous potential revenue for Digital (30m - 60m in FY '98 alone)

Hi I received this data from Neil Davies. If you have further questions/issues, you should work them directly with Neil of one of his team members: 3.2.G will have "prior version support" - this will be through all of FY 1998 for sure and may be extended beyond that. Prior version support does cover some layered products. We will not support Y2K officially on 3.2.G. |
