9782.0. "DE500-XA autocorrecting for duplex mode?" by CSC32::A_LICAUSE () Mon May 12 1997 10:27
A customer called in running V3.2g dunix and using a DE500-XA.
They did a set ewa0_mode full and have their hub port set to full
as well, with no negotiation. So everthing should remain at full
duplex. They also have several other V3.2g systems running in the same
configuration w/o problems.
On the most recent boot, the DE500 reverted to 1/2 duplex mode and as
a consequence was logging many CRC failures and collisions with obvious
reduced throughput.
1st what could cause the XA to go back to 1/2 duplex mode....I was
under the impression that the XA would autosense the speed but not
the duplex mode?
2nd - customer is asking the best way to prevent this from happening
again...they would like to know if adding the statement "speed 20"
in rc.config will take care of any boot problems with the DE500?
Thanks,
Al

"speed 20" in rc.config would fix the problem, but check ewa0_mode
before taking that move. Make sure ewa0_mode is "Full"...
