De500-xa. 10bT. Goes into a punchdown block and out to a switch. All 10bT. 3.2g dunix. He set it to full duplex, but when the system reboots is says it has autosensed to half duplex. Switch is set to full. netstat -I tu0 -s shows thousands of send failures, including collision detect check failures..... ????? Any ideas why we'd be logging that particular error??????? I suggested that he go off and check his hdwe, but I'd like to know where we'd be getting cpt errors on this controller. thanks

Instead of autosensing, why not explicitly set the mode? >>> set ewa0_mode full If there is a one to one match of number of packets out to the number of transmit errors, I'd say you have a problem in your connection. Collision detection circuitry is part of every Ethernet device. If you want the details on what it does, you can research it on your own time. It bascially ensures that it can hear what it sends out on the "ether"... | |||||

I KNOW what collisions detect check failures are, thanks. I was wondering from WHERE we would see them on a twisted pair circuit. Which piece of equipment would be generating CPT? ....never mind..... |
