problem in config.. as4100/d-unix

Hi folks !
There is a problem in config a AS4000/4100 along with
DLT(Digital Linear Tape.) Whenever I use the Digital Configuration
Utility to configure the server it does not config a system.
The error message is given that DLT cannotbe configured inside.
Is it so?
Do we have to always use a tabletop DLT ?
