Customer extracts the system disk from one ALPHA-1000/400 to another ALPHA 1000/400 system. He finds that he cannot restart the Motify. Customer also changes the nodename. Customer already booted the generic VMSUNIX and then to perform a configuration again. Customer can't use Motify again. Would any suggest how to fix the problem for customer.

What is "Motify"? The kernel, /vmunix, (not VMSUNIX) is built to work on a specific system. While two systems might be the same model, they may have subtley different configurations that prevent the same kernel from working on each. Also, the the fstab file indicates what devices particular file systems are on and if the device names change as the result of moving, these don't change without editing by the user. |
