Customer wants to run RIS and maybe Diskless support over ATM probabally a ATMworks 350/351 card. This is not in the SPD's FDDI and Ethernet are. I've not much experience with ATM are there issues?

The SPD for RIS states it supports the DEFPA FDDI Cards. Are the ATM cards not DEFPA cards as well? | |||||

Hi, RIS over ATM is not supported, and probably won't be anytime soon. Without getting into too much detail, ATM configurations just don't fit into the classic BOOTP picture very well because of the inherent design of ATM. Not to mention the code to do all of this might not fit in the console (I believe there's a limit to size). There's enough other RIS methods around to not worry about one more. I believe diskless would fall in the same category because it's similar to RIS. Re: Are the ATM cards not DEFPA cards as well? No, DEFPA is FDDI, ATM cards are currently DGLTA and DGLPB, I don't know what the 351's "code" is, probably same as the 350. -Brian [Posted by WWW Notes gateway] |
