| For initial install, you will only get the low res VGA mode. You need the DDX
to get higher resolution. To get the DDX you must install Open3D.
If this is a problem for you or your customer, contact the Open3D folks. They
feel this is a completely acceptable solution.

9654.2 | NT works the same way | HYDRA::DONSBACH | Jeff Donsbach, Software Partner Engineering, DTN 297-6862 | Tue Apr 29 1997 17:29 | 6 |
| NT is installed similarly, in VGA mode and then you can install
the real driver after NT is installed. Hey, at least you still
get a graphical installation!

Yes, but the windows are overlapping and not all buttons are visible.
Is this a real pro ?

9654.4 | This is not a solution !!! | NNTPD::"[email protected]" | Detlef Schmier | Wed Apr 30 1997 11:06 | 9 |
| I talked to the customer and he pointed out, that this is *not* a solution
for him. With the VGA resolution, he is not able configure the system
correct.
Any idea ?
regards
Detlef.

| Then it should be pretty simple to reproduce. Plug in one of the TGA
or TGA-2 card with the switchpack/rotary to VGA mode and watch what
happens during the graphics installation.
If the the windows are overlapping and not all buttons are visible,
then that's a bug in the base system and not Open3D issue.

| If, however, the customer is saying he needs the full 1280x1024 or larger
resolution during install, you need to talk to the Open3D folks. The easiest
way to have this happen would be to include the 2D support for these cards
in the base os. We (USG) have asked about this several times. Open3D has
always responded that they don't want to do this. They don't see any advantage
to it.
