9634.0. "Impossible Login from DCE console if C2 Security is active " by NNTPD::"[email protected]" (Farah Salem) Mon Apr 28 1997 07:12

DUNIX 32G and C2-Security

Since Ive activated C2-Security, I am not able to login from the CDE console.

Error message: Login incorrect, Please try again"

If I lgoin from another system using telnet, then stop cde (/sbin/init.d/cde
stop) and start Motif (/sbin/init.d/xdm start)
I can login from the Motif Login Box (console).

Does CDE work with C2 Security ?
What is wrong ?

Thanks,

Farah

See prior notes on this. CDE in V3.2x is an Advanced Developers
Kit and does not work with C2 security. This is stated in the
	release notes.

I'm assuming that you mean that you enabled Enhanced Security on your system.
We do not have anything called "C2-Security" that you can enable or
"activate" on your system. Enhanced Security contains some C2 level
security features, but it is not "C2-Security".

The Enhanced Security protected password database should work with
CDE enabled, at least in version 4.0 and later. You'd have to check
the CDE documentation and/or release notes to see what they say about
V3.2* support for Enhanced Security.
