9621.0. "AV300-AA and tc-option problem" by HGOVC::MICHAELWAN () Fri Apr 25 1997 09:36

    I have backed up a DUNIX system (3.2G) from an Alpha 2100 and restored
    it on an Alpha 3000-500. I have done all the kernel rebuilding stuff
    and fixed everything except the graphic card.

    The sizer output with the generic kernel does not reflect the graphic
    card entry. Also, when I boot the machine, it displays:

    "AV300-AA not in tc-option data table, can't configure it"

    I tried to install DUNIX 4.0 on another hard disk and it showed the
    same message during the CD-ROM boot up. The Windows interface was
    disabled and the installation process entered line mode. Obviously, the
    graphic card was also not recognized in 4.0.

    How can I fix this problem?

9621.1not supported in the base systemNNTPD::"[email protected]"Farrell WoodsFri Apr 25 1997 11:148
Try installing the Multimedia Services kit. It's on the Software Product
Library CD. This kit has the driver support for the JV2 board. JV2 is not
supported in the Base OS kit.

9621.2Can I use the AV-300 card without Multimedia service?HGOVC::MICHAELWANMon Apr 28 1997 04:2812
    (re: .1 - AV300-AA card support problem)Thanks.

    I only want to setup the graphic card so that I can use X-windows. (and
    avoid the system crash without disabling X-windows WS startup.) But I
    don't need the full multimedia service.

    1) Can I get the graphic card support without installing the whole mme
    kit? How?

    2) Must I have the mme runtime or development license to use the
    graphic card?

9621.3anyone from the multimedia group here?NNTPD::"[email protected]"Farrell WoodsMon Apr 28 1997 11:3411
Technically I think you need the MME runtime license. I don't believe that
the components of the kit are available separately (that is, the driver
doesn't have its own kit.)

The kit should either prompt you for the pak info or it may just refuse
to install itself if the pak isn't present.
