9568.0. "NFS server question" by CERN::GUGLIELMI () Mon Apr 21 1997 12:26
NFS problem description:
we have an alphaserver 4000 running Digital Unix, which we would like to
NFS-serve an alpha node running Linux. Unfortunately, the
NFS-server daemon on OSF/1 machine assigns always a 4 value as a major
device number if you mount an NFS directory from a non-OSF machine. We
tried to mount the same directory from ULTRIX and OSF servers. On
ULTRIX it's 0 (which LINUX likes), on OSF it's 4. Playing with NFS options
doesn't give any results.
Any hints?
Regards,
Alberto Guglielmi, Digital Joint Project at CERN.
