I have a customer requesting an estimate of resource overhead (cpu usage, virtual memory, etc) for UNIX system accounting. I suggested he enable accounting and monitor his system, which he was reluctant to do. Anybody have any experience using system accounting on UNIX that can provide me with some estimates? Basic accounting functionality - enabling data collection and running basic cron jobs (runacct, ckpacct,ac,pac, etc) - would be sufficient. Thanks, Gary
