9463.0. "LNC01 configuration problems" by FIRSC1::CECCHI () Thu Apr 10 1997 10:39

	Florence 10 April 1997

	Hi

I have installed a laser printer Colorwriter LSR 2000+
in a TCP/IP environment, with alpha server running
	Digital Unix4.0 B .
I heve configured the hosts file and the printcap as
	specified by configuration chapter.
The ping respond succesfully, but when I send a
a print command with lpr -Pcolorwriter , the answer is:
"waiting for colorwriter to come up".

	Do you have any suggestion?

	Many thanks in advance.

    	Hi

This is the printcap I have configured

    	colorwriter|lp0:\

    	:lf=/var/spool/lpd/colorwriter/log:\
    	:lp=:\
    	:mx#0:sf:sb:\
    	:rm=colorwriter:\
    	:rp=xjprint:\
    	:sd=/var/spool/lpd/colorwriter:

I have created the spool directory as specified by the
    	procedure, and the log file.

In the networks there are 5 alpha station with Digital Unix 4.0 B
and all work correctly with the tcp/ip.
A node has been configured as Web Server and works fine .
The ping with the laser is O.K. ; its netmask is equal with
    	the one of the hosts.

I don't understand where the problem can be.

    	Many thanks

What does 'lpq -Pcolorwriter' and 'lpc status colorwriter' give?
Can you post a 'ping colorwriter'?

What FW does the LNC01 have loaded? Is it properly configured?
