9462.0. "Can't read stack trace on DMS Client after panic." by TAPE::STONEHAM () Thu Apr 10 1997 10:31
Hello,
This note was posted on behalf of a contractor we hired to port the
InfoServer Client from Ultrix to DIGITAL UNIX. Thanks in advance for
any help you can provide.

I have an Alpha 3000/300 configured as a OSF 4.0 DMS client
with "Partial" option, and with a local swap partition. This
machine panics when I run a certain loadable device driver.
In order to debug this problem, I would like to see the panic
stack trace. BUT... although the panic produces the files
/var/adm/crash/vmcore.0 and /var/adm/crash/vmunix.0, the
command "dbx -k vmunix.0 vmcore.0" says that the executable
was stripped. This appears to be incorrect, because the
command "file vmunix.0" says that the executable is NOT
stripped.
Does anybody have an idea why the "dbx" command isn't working
properly and what can be done about it?
Thanks,
-Cory
