Digital UNIX V4.0 (Rev. 386) client Digital UNIX V4.0A (Rev. 464) server I'm trying to nfs mount a disk on the server system from the client system, and see: }wawa-14 : mount -t nfs robot1:/usr/kits ttemp Bad MNT RPC: robot1:/usr/kits: RPC: Authentication error; why = Client credential too weak I've mounted this remote disk successfully on other systems that appear to be similar in configuration. What causes this error? What should I look at to diagnose it? Thanks! tl

Well, I found one reason why it didn't work: on the client side, where I thought I was superuser, well, I wasn't. When I did become superuser, this worked. tl | |||||
9412.2 | same error from non-UNIX client | solid.zko.dec.com::tamara::mansur | Joe Mansur | Fri May 09 1997 10:51 | 11 |
I'm getting this same error when trying to mount from a non-UNIX client. Is there any way to get more detail about the error cause (an error log somewhere or extra logging options on the nfs server?)? Are there restrictions on the client-port-number a client must use? Is there a way to get the server to show what the client port number is? Thanks, Joe |
