9376.0. "LAT open port failture" by TAV02::ISRAEL () Thu Apr 03 1997 06:14
Hi there,
My customer is writing a program that read and write from LAT terminal port.
He is using simple open(), read(), write() and close() calls.
He is using DIGITAL UNIX V4.0a and V4.0b. He also uses the BSD style ttys.
His problem is when he tries to open the port once in a while a gets an
IO error (errno 5). Sometimes it can take up to few minutes until the
open() succeeded.
While in error state, if we check the port on the terminal server (DS90M)
we can see that the port is in Idle state (i.e. no session is open).
We did some LAT-analysis and found out that no LAT-start commands are
coming from the UNIX.
From the customer we know that his program can be terminated using a
"kill -9" command or it aborts abnormally. Because the customer is in a
middle of integration process he cant help those process termination
procedures.
Any help on how can we help the customer will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Israel Pascal.
