Hi all, This is a quickie. Does anyone know whether Sony's OSL 2000 optical storage unit is supported by dunix 3.2c running on an alpha 3000 and/or dunix 3.2f running on an alpha 2100? It's not mentioned in the SPDs and I can't find any reference to them anywhere, but I thought I'd post a note to see if anyone knew of any compatibilities or incompatibilities. Thanks in advance. Probably the answer is "No". Optical storage isn't (usually) supported by the base OS, it doesn't (usually) behave identically with ordinary magnetic disks. The Digital-supported optical storage management products are OSDS and OSMS (Optical Storage {Desktop|Management} Something-or-0ther). They typically support only Digital-badged optical drives. There is a notesfile on ELWOOD::OPTICAL with a few topics with Sony in the title. regards john |
