Currently (V4.0B) is limited to 65K...in V4.0D, this will be able to
be raised well above this (at least to 256K). I suggest you
contact Gretchen Stewart in UNIX product management to get more
information on what you need to do...

9334.2 | up to 64 bits? | APACHE::CHAMBERS | | Fri Apr 04 1997 13:13 | 6 |
| What they really oughta do is up the uid to 64 bits. After all, 32 bits
isn't enough to count all the living humans (not to mention keeping records
on the ones no longer with us). If you really want a general-purpose user
id number, you currently need around 36 bits, and the number is growing
fast ...

9334.3 | RE: UID Limit - suggestions | MIPSBX::"[email protected]" | Mark Ramsay | Mon Apr 14 1997 14:38 | 8 |
| Does anyone have suggestions as to how one can overcome the UID
limitation? What are we doing with larger Internet Service Providers
who require a larger UID limit?
What are SUN and HP's UID limitations?
Thanks, Mark.
