Can anyone tell me how to get a dhcp client to accept a longer lease
time than one originally given?
I've modified my lease time parameters from 5 minutes to 1 hour
in all possible places in xjoin and have samed them successfully.
I then went to the client and instructed it to relinquish its current
lease using winipcfg on Windows 95 and ipconfig/realease on NTV4, but
each time the client reapplies it receives the same 5 minute lease
time.
Q1: Must the appropriate registry entry be deleted as well?
w95:
\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\VxD\DHCP\DhcpInfoxx
NTv4:
?
Please supply for NT and correct if w95 is wrong
Q2: Where else would you expect to find a lease time using xjoin?
Q3: When multiple lease time parameters are set in xjoin, which one
takes precedence?
I would assume default lease time under Server/Security is
overridden by Lease Time in Nodes >> DHCP Parameters.
Thanks,
Al

You probably found this already: it's in the Server/Security parameters window in the Server/Security tab in xjoin. As for Windoze, you might be better off asking in a more appropriate notes file. -- Farrell [Posted by WWW Notes gateway] | |||||
