9313.0. "nfssetup nfsoid number reduced to system defined maximum of" by AUBER::DORNANO () Thu Mar 27 1997 05:44

While running nfssetup, customer tries to declare 31 nfsiod,
but procedure complains with :

Number reduced to system defined maximum of : 20

I had a look here in /usr/sbin/nfssetup and found on my system :

NFS_MAXASYNCDAEMON=64

Can I change this value in the script, to increase the number
of concurrently running nfsiod processes, or is it related to
a variable in the kernel ?

Thanks

What release is your customer running? What release are you running?
Please don't make us guess - we don't have the time to read your mind!

See this QAR, looks like your customer needs to upgrade to V4.0 or later.

The nfsiod command allows 128 daemons to be started but the kernel
limits the count to 20.

The kernel limit should be increased to 32 or 64 and the daemon limit
decreased to 32 or 64. I can't decide right now, see me and I'll
let you know how many.

Make sure the NFS doc writers are aware of the change once it is made.

Sorry I made you waste some time.

Customer is running 3.2D so this is it. No problem on my 4.0 machine.

BTW, does somebody know the name of the limit in the kernel ?

Thank you very much
