9278.0. "invalid multibyte character" by HYDRA::LAVIN () Tue Mar 25 1997 10:42

	We have an 8400 running Digital Unix v4.0 (no patches)...It gets
	an "invalid multibyte character" message which seems to be a ksh
	type error as it is prefaced by ksh:...I cannot find the error
	in the conference so far...It usually occurs when running a basic
	environment setting script...

9278.1can you reproduce consistently ? SMURF::WENDYTue Mar 25 1997 11:117
    We have had sporadic reports of such a problem but have not been
    able to reproduce the error. Please le me know if you can provide

	...Easily with every or almost every ksh command line command I write
	the command is performed..but there seems to be an error line for
	every directory in the path statement..is there a path length problem?
	Is there a max number of directories allowed in a path...
9278.3What is the status? Solved?NNTPD::"[email protected]"Feynman LoFri May 02 1997 02:3012
Our critical customer experiences similar
problem on Digital Unix 4.0b. He got
/bin/ksh: invalid multibyte character and
also exported with a ENV file in .profile.
He even encountered ksh core dumped.

What is the cause? Could you please update
the status?

    You need to submit a high priority QAR or IPMT case for this if you
    want to get the attention of the people responsible for fixing it.
