Does anyone know if this in a known problem of 4.0A and whether it is
addressed in 4.0B?

Can you tell me about DU 4.0B, I am running 4.0A and have discovered a few
problems, did you know that if you are logged in as a user then run the
X11 net config stuff to modify the hosts or bind stuff - it then fubar's
most - all the /usr/bin ownerships and the privs on some of the /etc files
Its taken me the last few hours trying to identify and fix the problem
cause once it happens you cant login as a user :(
