9204.0. "vmstat with 4.0: individual cpu stats reported?" by SCASS1::GROVE () Mon Mar 17 1997 13:34
With the Digital UNIX Version 3.2* and previous releases, I understand
that the *stat commands report the average, cumulative CPU usage for
multi processor configurations.
I was under the impression that this was due to change, perhaps with
Digital UNIX Version 4.0?
As I do not have access to a multi processor system and the Digital
UNIX Version 4.0 documentation does not indicate if the *stat commands
still report average, cumulative versus individual CPU usage, could
someone please clarify?
Specifically, of interest is the vmstat command.
Thanks

| I don't believe anything changed in that area of vmstat for V4.0.
I've certainly seen nothing different in its output....

| I didn't notice anything different either with vmstat.
Just thought I would ask.
Thanks for responding

| The graphic display of the cpuinfo command can give you a nice
picture of the system/user/idle breakdown on each cpu. vmubc
does something similar, I believe.
