Hi, my customer uses two FAST ETHERNET interfaces and there was a lot of different problems (sometimes PCs are not more able to connect to Pathwork on the server, sometimes the server was in apparent hang..) The Digital Unix version is V.3.2G, the system is a Alpha 1000 well configureted (over 256 MB RAM) We are changed the FAST ETH board from Full-duplex mode to Half-duplex mode. The problems are disapeared. Does somebody know any problem about FAST-ETH in Full-duplex mode ? If there are some problems are they fixed in V.4.0 ? Thanks in advance and Ciao. Filippo.

The only problems I know of are resolved by insuring both UNIX (via the ifconfig command) and the console (via 'set ethernet') both realize that full duplex operation is desired. Also if there is a hub in between, it may also have to be forced into full duplex mode. Dave [Posted by WWW Notes gateway] |
