9085.0. "Bootable tape / AlphaServer 300 / UNIX 4.0a problem" by GEOFFN::WRIGHT () Mon Mar 10 1997 10:36
I am in the process of setting up some Alpha systems that will used as
the model for future systems that are to be installed at the customers
site.
I am having problems with bootable tape support in the following
combinations:-
UNIX V4.0a AlphaServer 300 TLZ06 (See attached log)
UNIX V4.0a AlphaServer 300 TLZ09
upgrading to UNIX V4.0b fixes the problem with the bootable tape (TLZ09)
support but we the have problems with Networker and licences instead.
I notice that similar problems with "No disk Label" have been reported
previously is there a SIMPLY fix that we can use to circumvent the
problem ?

9085.1 | Copied files from V4.0b to V4.0a | GEOFFN::WRIGHT | | Tue Mar 11 1997 10:40 | 18 |
|
As I have run out of time on this one I have copied the following
files from a UNIX V4.0b system to the UNIX V4.0a system.
/usr/sys/bin/btcreate
/usr/sys/bin/btextract
/usr/sys/bin/mktape
/usr/sys/bin/sboot.
I have successfully built a bootable tape on an AlphaServer 300 with
a TLZ09 dat tape and restored the system from tape. Although this is
probably not a supported configuration its a question of demonstrating
a system that actually works.
