9081.0. "Customer is claiming bug with ps .... ???" by NETRIX::"[email protected]" (Th FAIDHERBE) Mon Mar 10 1997 04:55

Hi to all,

When I received these call, I smiled a lot of but less now 8-) ...

Customer is claiming PS bug in osf 3.2c 3.2d1 3.2d2 3.2e 3.2f 3.2g ... ...
... but seems to be "solved" in 4.0x ... that's not a joke !!! ???

Customer is trying to do a ps -o group and received

ciney_#ps -o group
ps: unknown variable in format: group

I explained to customer REAL/effective GID but customer say :

... it is in man pages... that doesn't work ... it's a bug .... I want
patches.

Is there somebody that can help me to having "solution" or official
explanation ...

Other thing : Is it possible that group and rgroup have different values for
the same process ??? (tryed on 4.0b but group and rgroup have same values.
Customer claims that's possible ... Tryed but always same value).

It's not the first time that strange problems are reported from this customer.

HELP will be %%% very %%% appreciated ...

///Thierry

The "group" qualifier got turned on for V4.0 for UNIX95 conformance.

In other words, it was a new feature for V4.0 and doesn't exist
    on earlier releases.
