Hi, experts
I need your help badly! VXT2000 and Multia are all retired, but customers still
need the function of displying UNIX and VMS Alpha's DECWindow/Motif over
networt.
(1) WHAT'S TEH ALTERNATIVE Digital can provide today? Your advisory is looking
forward to.
(2) I know "eXcursion" can simulate DECWindow/Motif on PC. But the customers
request LOCAL LANGUAGE support for DECwindow/Motif displying by eXcursion
on PC.
Could you tell me, If DECWindow/Motif on Digital-UNIX and VMS are all support
Chinese Character, can the "eXcursion" display Chinese Character in DECWindow/
Motif simulation on PC also? or need other add on software? from which vendor?
...
Thanks ahead for your help!
Helen

Hi, Helen,
A couple other notes conferences might be able to help:
NOTED::EXCURSION
HANZI::ASIAN_PRODUCTS
If not, here are some ideas:
1. Run eXcursion on the PC and feed it the Chinese fonts
from a font server on a Digital UNIX system. The font
server is needed because I can't find any eXcursion
kits that contain Chinese fonts.
2. Use Reflection X, a PC X server from a company named
WRQ. It includes a few Chinese fonts.
I'm going to test both approaches tomorrow, just to be safe.
I know that the second idea will need some tweaking. I'll let
you know how it goes.
A couple questions for you:
1. What version of Digital UNIX is the customer using?
2. Are they using CDE?
3. Are they using Simplified or Traditional Chinese?
Thanks and regards,
Tom
