8970.0. "X11 Security" by SNOFS1::IPSSG_FL () Wed Feb 26 1997 08:16
The following questions have been asked from the topic 3079 but I don't
mind to ask again.
How can we prevent our Workstation X11 server from being attacked or
connected from the network ?? I can think of,
1) Make sure the file /etc/X*.hosts does not exist or only
contain local hostname.
2) Make sure the file .Xauthority contains local hostname.
Is there anyway to start the X11 server on port other than 6000 ?? Can
we do something on the script /sbin/init.d/xlogin ??
From the topic 3079.3, someone was suggesting to write a program to
occupy the port 6000 before to start xlogin. I would appreciate if
someone has done this and send me the source.
