8941.0. "Printer Help" by LEXSS1::CANUTE (It's Magic!!!) Mon Feb 24 1997 14:44
I've a customer that prints to a dumb printer by using the
directional signal. IE: cat file.txt > /dev/lat/620
Yes this is DUNIX V3.2D-1 and the printing is done to a barcode
making printer on a lat line. We can print fine after mega testing. But
since this is a dumb printer, the customer sends a series of commands
that the printer answers fine on VMS but not on the DUNIX side. The
commands are sent to find out if the printer is available, has paper
etc..... As I stated earlier, we can get the correct output we want
sending to the printer (via lat), but when we ask for a response from
the printer we get nothing....
The lat terminal setup:
latcp -A -p620 -Hlat003 -Rport_14
I did NOT add the terminal into /etc/inittab since it cannot be a
queued printer....
Any ideas on what I forgot to do????
Thanks in advance
