8928.0. "NIS yppasswd problem.. Mismatch - password unchanged." by WONDER::BENTO (I've got TV but I want T-Rex...) Fri Feb 21 1997 14:32
I'm having problems with NIS passwd changes on some clients.
A user loging onto a NIS client on one subnet can change his passwd
using yppasswd . If the user goes onto another client, and then try
the yppasswd command they get an error of
% yppasswd
Changing NIS password for smithj
Old NIS password:
New password:
Retype new password:
Mismatch - password unchanged.
Output of 'ypwhich' points to the NIS server.
Output of 'ypcat passwd' shows what it should.
Seems to me that the problem is in the writing back to the server
since logging in works fine.
Any ideas on what is wrong?
Regards,
-TB
