    Hi,
    
    In Digital UNIX 4.0A it exists a patch ( OSF400-29 ) that solves a
    problem working with TLZ09 and SCSI chips 810A/825A/860/875.
    
    This is the patch description :
    
    Patch ID: OSF400-29
    o Fixes a data corruption problem caused by a change in DNAD register
      behavior on Symbios 810A/825A/860/875 chips.
    
    
    We have similar problems using TLZ09 and Digital UNIX 4.0B. The
    firmware version of TLZ09 is OK.
    
    Now the question :
    
    May I suppose that OSF400-29 patch for DUNIX 4.0A is included on DUNIX
    4.0B ?
    
    If not, May I apply OSF400-29 to DUNIX 4.0B ?

    Yes, OSF400-29 is included in V4.0B.  For future reference it is never
    possible to take a patch from one release and apply it to another.

    My customer is having the same problem in an AlphaServer 4100 w/DU v4.0b
    and has all patches installed. 

    He has to generate 15 4Gb tapes to a government bid and tar is writing 
    but not reading these tapes.

    Any Suggestions ?

It would help to provide the firmware revs of the devices, the
commands invoked, what patches (if any are installed)...
