8873.0. "btcreate fails with insufficient dynamic memory" by KERNEL::NICHOLSONA (one suite too many can cause truth decay) Tue Feb 18 1997 11:48

    Customer has an alphastation 255 running 4.0b and has a tlz09.
    He is trying to use btcreate and this is failing with

    >>>b mka500
    (boot mka500.5.0.6.0 -flags A)
    boot block format for mka500.5.0.6.0
    record 0 of mka500.5.0.6.0 is a valid boot block

    etc....
    ------------

    Now I know that the tape drive is definitely not supported and I have
    asked the customer to go and try a tlz06 and tlz07. But in the
    release notes for 4.0b 4-14, one of the processors that is supported
    is an Alphastation 200. Would that incorporate Alphastation 255?
    or is this a totally different beast?

    Many thanks
    Avril

8873.1Same problem with AS 500 and TLZ06RDGENG::ddors.reo.dec.com::readings_rThu May 08 1997 14:144
I have exactly the same problem with my AlphaStation 500/266 and TLZ06. Is the
AlphaStation 500 unsupported with btcreate?

8873.2Release NotesRHETT::PARKERThu May 08 1997 15:1922

    See chapter 4 of the release notes for a listing of the platforms
    that are supported. Both of the machines listed in this note are
    NOT listed. I think the reason only some platforms are currently
    listed/supported is that firmware changes have to be made.

    The machines listed are :

    DEC 3000 300/300x/400/500/600/900
    DEC 2100
    AlphaStation 200/600
    AlphaServer 1000A/2100/4100

    Supported tape devices:

    TLZ06, TLZ07, TZK10/TZK11, and TZ86

    Hope this helps!
