8806.0. "Modem speed and digi" by CSC32::PITT () Wed Feb 12 1997 10:29

Previous notes states that on board serial ports are limited to
38400 and 56600kb, but that other devices can get to speeds up to
    115200.
Customer has a digiboard that supports up to 115200, but when she
attempts to set the speed that high, she gets garbage.
Digi suggested that some unix's allow you to set the port for "fast baud
    300".
Any ideas what that might be?

Support for higher baud rates such as 57600 and 115200 were added in
V4.0 of Digital UNIX. If your customer is using and earlier version
than V4.0 they will not be able to use the higher baud rates.

I'm not sure what Digiboard is referring to as far as using 300 baud to
get at the higher baud rates but I suspect that some type of patch to
the kernel was provided that replaced the 300 baud setting with the
a value that enabled a higher baud rate. This would enable the user
to use stty 300 for example to set the higher baud rate. We do not
provide that. Your customer would need to upgrade their system to V4.0
or latter.

If your customer is using V4.0 or a later release then that is another
issue. This could be a problem with the Digiboard driver, which you
would have to speak with Digiboard about, or a possible problem with
our streams driver. In either case if Digiboard claims their driver
runs at the higher baud rates I would have expected that they would
have tested this and confirmed it. Did they say that they support the
higher baud rates on Digital UNIX?
