8780.0. "HELP WITH PCIACONFL CRASHES" by WARFUT::MELLING () Mon Feb 10 1997 19:48

    	Hello,

    	We have encountered a problem in adding a DWLPA-CA to an AS8200
    	system.The console was upgraded to V3.1-6 from the V3.6 f/w CD
    	as the DWLPA-CA had the later motherboard fitted.

    	The DWLPA-CA has 2 x KZPSA at rev A10 fitted,an HSZ40 was connected
    	to each KZPPSA in turn and all of the appropriate disks could be
    	seen at the console level.NO power up errors were experienced.

    	The system is running DECunix V3.2c,on booting the system crashes
    	with :

    	panic ( cpu 10 ) : pciaconfl : get_bus failed

    	The pci shelf was removed and the system boots fine.

    	There have been a couple of similar entries in this and the
    	Turbolaser conference,I would be grateful for help with the
    	above.

8780.1Did you boot w/genvmunix to re-doconfig?SMURF::DUTILEOSF Eng., HW SupportTue Feb 11 1997 12:2416
 After adding the dwlpa-ca, did you run the generic kernel to
 re-config?

 if not, then the panic message is correct.

 your target kernel is sized to only support the devices that
 existed on the system when the kernel was installed on it.

 to re-build a new target kernel, boot w/genvmunix and run
 doconfig.

 Let us know if you did or did not run genvmunix.

    Hello,

    	Thanks for the prompt reply,we did not try booting with
    	genvmunix.

    	The customer's concern was to get their system back up
    	and research the problem.

    	I shall advise the customer of the above and post you the
    	results.

    regards
    tony
