8769.0. "touch:cannot change times on <file>" by MUNICH::CUZUM () Mon Feb 10 1997 09:03
Hello folks,
I have the same problem as many others had before me with the 'touch'
command. In a directory with the permissions rwxrwxrwx I create a file
with touch, as user1. The file has the permissions rx-rw-rw-. When I try
a touch on this file as user2, I get:
touch: cannot change times on <filename>
This seems not correct to me. In some notes (digital_unix conference ) and
some Comet-entries I read about a promised patch or correction in a future
version of dUNIX. At that time the customer was running V3.0. The
last promise about a correction was with V4.0. I tried this on all
available versions from V3.2c to V4.0a, and ... no correction. The same
problem occurs on all versions. Does anyone know, if there is any patch/
option/correction/hope with this? What happened with all the IPMTs that
have been submitted?
Regards,
Corina
