8754.0. "How to interrupt boot process ?" by NETRIX::"[email protected]" (Ludwig Dallmeyr) Fri Feb 07 1997 09:34

Hi folks,

Customer had problem to interrupt the boot process.
Console variable 'auto_action' was set to 'boot'. System was
crashing and booting and crashing and booting ....
Found out to stop this by pressing <CTRL> + <P> keys at
his AlphaStation 400.
Is there a general approach to stop this crash and boot loop
besides setting the 'auto_action' variable to 'halt' ?
Does somebody know, if there is a summary for key combinations
on several platforms how to interrupt the booting process ?

Any comment would be appreciated,

Ludwig.

Hi,

The easiest way is to just push the "halt" button. Your 400's button might
be jumpered to do a reset, I think the manual tells how to change it's
function (if not, someone else might know which one it is). Each platform
seems to have it's own special way of doing things...
