8747.0. "3.2C on an Alpha4100?" by EVTAI1::SAAD () Fri Feb 07 1997 04:09

    Hi,

    One of our software partners (SSA France) is unable to operate
    their client-server product (BPCS) on an AlphaServer 4100
    (with 3 processors) which is the machine that Digital has
    provided for their demos and benchmarks.

    Their engineering in Chicago has tested the product on
    UNIX 3.2C and can (I guess) only guarantee the operation on
    the version they have tested, which is understandable.

    What are the risks of us installing a 3.2C on the 4100 ?
    What are the differences between 3.2C and 3.2G ?

    I don't know if this info is relevant but this 4100 is on a
    Token ring network and hence drives a DW-300 interface.

    Any help is welcome.

    Regards
    William

8747.1It won't work ...WASTED::mapMark Parenti, Unix Engineering GroupFri Feb 07 1997 08:196
The AlphaServer 4100 is first supported in V3.2F or V4.0a. It simply won't
work on V3.2C, there is no code in that release to support it.
