Hi, I have the customer who has ALPHA station 255 5/300 with DIGITAL UNIX 4.0a & it is a Factory installed M/C.The customer has downloaded certain IMAGES from the NETWORK, it is an executable image which gives you some GRAPHICAL DISPLAY. But when I am trying to execute this IMAGE after logging on to the CONSOLE as root or any other user it gives me the following errors. X error of failed request:Badmatch (invalid parameter attributes) Major opcode of failed request:1 (X_create window) serial no of failed request:56 current serial no in o/p stream:62 But if we try to connect to this M/C through some PC CLIENT which has X EMULATION software & use the DISPLAY of the CLIENT & try to run the same IMAGE it works fine. We took the same IMAGE to another M/C which is AS2000 4/266 with GRAPHICS CONSOLE & DIGITAL UNIX 3.2c & tried to run the same IMAGE it is working fine. The only difference between these two OPERATING SYSTEMS is DEFAULT XLOGIN is CDE on DU4.0a & is XDM on DU3.2c. Thanks in ADVANCE...................... Sachin (MCS MUMBAI, INDIA)

On your system running 4.0a, login from dxsession ( pick DXsession from
sessions option on login window) and run your binary to see if you get
the same error.
If you get the same error then it is probably a X related problem.
else it is probably due to CDE.
