8715.0. "where is IOSTHUCSBASE4XX ????" by NETRIX::"[email protected]" (Roberto Romani) Wed Feb 05 1997 04:52

Hello All,

 I have a customer who wants to install thai language support , so he has
followed the installation instructions from tyhe v4.0 installation
guide.he installed the relevent subsets and checked the wwinstall.log file to
make sure there were no other dependicies,but he still cannot find
IOSTHUCSBASE400 because it doesn't seems to be in the ALPHA/WORLDWIDE
directory.Apparently the problem is when he selects thai language support from
the CDE login window
all gets is strange characters.

8715.1Is that the real problem?SMURF::WOODBURNWed Feb 05 1997 11:1525
	Hi, Roberto,

	Digital UNIX doesn't have a IOSTHUCSBASE400 subset. The
	UCS subsets contain Unicode locales and codeset converters and
	we don't have any of those for Thai.

	Is the main problem that when he selects Thai language support
	from the CDE login window, all he gets is strange characters?
	If so, I can help.

	First, let's try to pinpoint where the customer is getting the
	strange characters. When you select a language from the CDE
	login window, the window re-displays in the new language. Is
	that where the customer is seeing the strange characters? Or
	is he seeing them after he has logged in?

	If the login window re-displays okay and the customer is
	seeing the strange characters after he has logged in, see if
	the xnlLanguage resource is set in the .Xdefaults file. I bet
	it will be set to some other locale. To solve the problem,
	just delete the xnlLanguage setting and then login again.
