8674.0. "AlphaStation 600 5/333 with 2 Gig RAM; large process problems (not resources probs).." by NETRIX::"[email protected]" (sri) Fri Jan 31 1997 17:27
Hi,
We have a 600 5/333 with 1Gb ram and 2Gb swap and
we are using immediate swap mode. We can run jobs that
are close to 1Gig. But, typically if the job keeps running
for more than 10 minutes system seems to hung (from customer
description., but I believe system was swapping out that large
task).
Does anybody seems to experience simiar problems where
AlphaStation's having problems swapping out large tasks., of
is there a way we can prevent this behavious (how about renice,
may be we ought to do plock..)
Any ideas welcome,
Thanks in advance,
-Sri

| Can the customer still 'ping' the machine? If so it probably
isn't hung. Is the 2GB swap on one disk? If so, you should
consider rearranging things so swap can happen on more than
one partition.
