I'm trying to develop some in-depth notes for some new system managers. As part of it, I'd like to get several "key" screen captures. A few I'd *really* like would be the GUI screen(s) at install time. When the CD-ROM boots up and starts the X server, it's "Loading installation process and scanning system hardware." After that the Installation Setup screen appears. Since one of the buttons is [Setup Done], I'm _assuming_ all this has done is written one or more parameter files which the non-GUI setup reads. How can I start the Installation Setup program when the system is running in normal multiuser mode? Where *is* the Installation Setup program, and what setups does it need to run? For that matter, what DOES it write when I press [Setup Done]? Thanks in advance....

The installation UI's are on the CDROM or the RIS area, they aren't actually installed on the system so after the system is up you would need to do some forensic programming to revive them as well as setup an enviornment in which they can run. While this is possible (we do it for our trade show demos) an easier approach might be to simply go to the System Management Page in the DIGITAL home area and use the screen captures already provided ;-) They are in two places, internally on our sysman web site: http:/www.unx.dec.com/~sysman And then look for the "Tour" link, or on the digital external pages: http://www.UNIX.digital.com/unix/sysman/tour/index.html -FredC [Posted by WWW Notes gateway] |
