8624.0. "ISP_BUSY error and system hangs!" by DYOSW5::WILDER (Does virtual reality get swapped?) Tue Jan 28 1997 19:17
2 8200s, running DUNIX V4.2B The boot_reset is on, so booting the
systems causes an init.
Occassionally, when booting the systems, one will hang during boot with
the following error messages:
ips3: QLOGIC ISP1020
camm_logger: CAM_ERROR packet
cam_logger: bus 3
isp_mailboxcomplete
Timeout on mailbox command completion - scheduling chip reinit
cam_logger: CAM_ERROR packet
cam_logger: bus 3
isp_init
ISP_BUSY status for mailbox operations during common init - delaying
At this point the system will hang. Only a power fail will clear this
and allow the system to reboot.
I have seen this on BOTH systems, but I cannot duplicate it will. The
"isp3" is where the internal system disk is.
Has anyone seen this and/or know what causes it? Is there a patch? I
have looked at the current patches for 4.0B, and none of them seem to
address this problem.
Thanks in advance for any help.

| There is a patch for this; it must still be in the process loop.
Check with Bill Arvidson in the support group. He's the manager
for the I/O support group and would know the patch status.

| Apparently there is a patch 62 to fix this problem. I'll be applying this
patch in the next couple of weeks for testing......
